Topics, Sonic, and Comics
First official... meat... post. If it's not a thing, I'm making it a thing.
I got this blogging down pat!
I know in my Welcome post I went over the generalized mission of this blog. That's fine and all, right? One needs to have a sense of direction here, after all. But what really inspired me to even consider diving into the blogging sphere is the Sonic franchise.
Now I've played a lot of the games, not necessarily acing them or anything. Just good old fashion fun. The handheld ones (GBA, DS) ones especially entertained me whenever I would be dragged to places I did not want to go. Bow my head down with a hunched over back and ignore whatever event was happen, straining my eyes sometimes if I used the one without the backlight (you youngsters may not know). Kids just wanna play video games no matter the pain, and that was especially true for me. So Sonic and the gang was a pretty huge part of my childhood.
But I never really dove right into it with the comics and shows, although I'm quite certain I watched a good chunk of Sonic X. I'm not entirely sure why either. It could have something to do with my dad lamenting over the fact that modern comics have barely any words compared to when he read Superman as a kid, thus insisting it was just not worth x amount of dollars. Or it could have been what was in them. I mean, I never insisted or anything, not that I remember. I do remember seeing them at the check-out counters at HMV and other places.
To be clear, I'm talking about the Archie ones. Other ones, like from IDW (obviously, cause I was a little girl when Archie ones were THE Sonic comic), I had no knowledge of till recently.
And the shows? It's only within the last year or so that I even realized there were other ones beside Sonic X and Sonic Boom. Out of Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM), Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and Sonic Underground, SatAM I might have seen some; but I can't be sure. Adventures I most likely did not, and Underground definitely did not, though when I watched it within the last year or so, it explained why one of my classmates told me I could be Sonia when we were, I guess, role playing as different Sonic characters... I have a story involving that classmate and our mutual interest in Sonic, but that's for another time.
So one day, Sonic the Hedgehog movie sped into our lives. Long story short-ish - that made me want to invest time into reading the Sonic comics. I have yet to do just that, but I have things ready whenever. I mean, it is pretty easy to do so if you know how.
Anyways, that made me wonder, "Maybe I should document my Sonic comics journey?" This led me to thinking about doing a blog, and Bob's your Uncle, we are here. So basically in my long winded way, I will be doing a reaction series on the comics, from Archie to IDW and beyond. So watch for posts on that. Anyone who knows these comics know it is A LOT of material to go through.
Content galore.
But that isn't the only type of posts I want to do. *taps nose*
Till the next time.
